Premier Inn has cracked something the budget hotel sector usually gets wrong: the beds are genuinely excellent. The Newcastle City Centre branch keeps to the brand standards reliably – clean rooms, good blackout curtains, functional bathrooms.

There are multiple Premier Inn properties in Newcastle, but the city centre locations give you the best access to the Quayside, the main shopping streets, and the nightlife strip. The Quayside branch in particular puts you within walking distance of the Sage, BALTIC, and the full stretch of riverside bars and restaurants.

Best for: Budget-conscious city breaks, families, groups, stag and hen parties who need decent sleep at a sensible price. The restaurant (Thyme) is fine for an easy meal but the city’s independent scene is right on the doorstep.
